BIO
João Gabriel
João Gabriel, also known as Huenito, is a Brazilian comic book artist and illustrator with extensive experience in visual storytelling and advertising. He made his debut in the comics world with the short story Definhar, released as a webcomic on the Tapas platform—an experience that paved the way for his subsequent project, the supernatural thriller Nobre/Lobo, published by SESI-SP Editora. The work was critically acclaimed, receiving the prestigious "Cátedra UNESCO de Leitura" award in 2019 in the "Distinção" category, recognizing it as one of the most distinctive books published that year. Alongside his editorial work, he has collaborated with major advertising clients such as P&G, AACD, and the Brazilian Ministry of Health, developing storyboards, character designs, and concepts for various campaigns. He is currently developing Vlad, a medieval dark fantasy series that caught the attention of Sumerian Comics (formerly Behemoth). For the same publisher, he recently illustrated the graphic novel Teeth of God for the band Sleep Token, one of the most prominent acts in the contemporary music scene. The book saw significant success during its pre-sale and is scheduled for release this December.
